Mindo Nambillo Protected Forest

The Mindo area has won the Christmas Bird Count for three consecutive years, and the Mindo-Nambillo protected forest is one of the sources that bombards the Mindo area with more than 470 birds. The protected forest has 19,468 Hectares that range in altitude from 1220 to 4953 MASL (4000 to 16245 ft). The easiest access to the edge of this forest is through the road that goes to the waterfalls and cable-car area. Although there is more traffic due to recent development, including the Mindo Canopying, birding is still good along the entire road. The road that goes to the Mindo Gardens also enters the Nambillo reserve and there are some trails I have not explored yet that go from the Waterfall road to the Mindo Gardens area.
